However, these thing are more often than not left without updates. In the world of Linux and open source that means they’re outdated usually very quickly, so the challenge here isn’t writing the guide but more keeping it up to date.

I haven’t used it for wireless connections.

Ubuntu has a 6 month release cycle and is very easy to use. Check it out – perhaps the best way to try it is using a virtual machine.
