IBM’s “Sametime 3D” project – flowing workflow

A new video recently arrived on youtube featuring the voices of many of the people who work in the Digital Convergence/3d internet emerging business unit. It shows real integration between various elements of a regular workflow, including the realtime data feeds into a representation of a data centre.

It also shows some of the work done on various thought gathering tools. Its well worth a look as this is the sort of integration that should start to make sense to more of the business community.
There is of course a lot of opensim in there as its very flexible for these sort of applications.
Well done to all the team doing this and showing it at Lotusphere

  1. Hey! I have been to that Sim before! Hehe. Remember the rules for divergent and convergent thinking:

    Rules of divergent thinking
    * Defer Judgment
    * Strive for quantity
    * Seek wild ideas
    * Build on other’s ideas
    Rules of convergent thinking
    * Be affirmative
    * Be deliberate
    * Check objectives
    * Improve ideas
    * Consider novelty

  2. …and i’ve swearing at that sim many a times in the past couple of months: it puts a tremendous load on our development machine when loading it from an OAR file πŸ™‚ a real stress tester πŸ™‚ … and there’s more to come πŸ™‚

  3. Thanks Ian- and a huge thank you to the Lotus team in Germany, the developers in China lab and my favorite Opensim gurus- Tom Cook and Chris Yeoh. We could not have done it without them. Wish they all could have been there to see the excitement their work generated.

  5. I can’t wait to get made redundant (aka fired) in an immersive collaborative workspace like this.
